Pelvic Physical Therapist

Laura Ross
Kemper Pelvic Physio

https://kemperpt.com/

I have had specialized training in pre-hab and rehab from metoidioplasty, phalloplasty and vaginoplasty. The pelvic floor muscles are responsible for urinary and fecal continence, sexual function, postural function, pressure management and lymphatic function in all genders. After any kind of pelvic surgery, especially one as extensive as the above procedures, reconnecting with pelvic floor is important for restoring full function. In particular with respect to vaginoplasty instruction in use of dilators to maintain the new vaginal canal is important. In all of these procedures as a pelvic PT I also help manage scar tissue post surgery, which can cause additional pain or functional challenges in bowel, bladder or sexual function.  Beyond this I have treated many transmen and nonbinary folks with urologic complaints (painful urination, incomplete emptying, burning, pelvic pain) or pain with sex; some after starting HRT, others without HRT. My patients have expressed gratitude for a place to be open about their sexual practices with a provider who can help them get back to what they'd like to be doing without pain and without judgement.
